Back in my day (Vietnam era), I was not issued Dress Blues. Only people that served in units that did ceremonial or particular function (embassy duty, band, as an examples ) were issued blues. I don't know when it changed but when I left the service, I don't think they were issuing blues.

I changed units after spending 3 years at Camp Pendleton and went to 29 palms and I loved 29 palms my unit in Pendleton was an overflow unit and if they knew your name you were a shitbag, the unit in 29 was small our company gunny knew everyone’s name, birthday and if you were married he knew your anniversary and he was constantly taking care of his marines

I am a Airborne Paratrooper Gulf-War Veteran. This guy was charged, prosecuted, and found guilty in a court of law by his neighbor and judge that does not look like him (That’s code word for black people) while allegedly protecting his property. In addition, the local police, lawyer, and judge were all supposedly against him because he has PTSD. This sounds like a case when white privilege could not be defended in a court of law. But have no fear my fellow privileged military brother, you can come to my neighborhood and help me fight against several of my white privileged neighbors and the HOA that allow homeowners to walk their dogs and allow the dogs to piss and sh•t on other people’s lawn, since you’re into protecting property rights.

The Marine Corps is not the "best" option for most people. That not to say its a bad thing but most people are not going to like the process and lifestyle. That said its a good experience to teach structure and patience and the ability to get shit done with less. Its not about if you like it or not. Its about being part of something bigger than yourself. Its an experience that changes ones life. Also he is not fully correct on the medical stuff. Anyone who goes into a field that may put you into the search and rescue sector like the fire department will learn medical skills. You can also become a combat medic like I did.

The US Citizenship system was designed to be unfair: to where the average, disabled, undocumented troop was scammed into service. They're angrier; thus propelled to fight harder. It's a smart system because the justice-seeking citizens are drafted & die in war while politicians take their families to dinner & sleep well at night. My question is: do prior service at least get to swap their MOS or get a choice of duty station? Because MEPS happily turns away disabled people, but then turns around and.. well, drafts disabled people.

People don't want to die in a war that doesn't benefit them. We just came out of a pointless 20 year war and what do we have to show for it? The U.S. has bases all over the world for "strategy" and dominance yet we gave up afganistan which is filled with natrual resouces. Which was taken by the taliban and chinese. I'm not saying I don't support troops, I do. And I dont think getting into the military is bad but the government cant force people to go to a war they essentially created and expect people to be happy and willing to do it.
